Think first
I always hear about girls tanning... gotta get that base tan. Have to look good.
I'm a pale skin, yup that is right, I'm pasty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I won't lie, I have hit the tanning bed a few times in my life but after having my grandparent diagnosed with skin cancer (which thankfully was caught very soon and non-invasive treatment was used). I thought, is it really worth it. I've decided I would rather be pasty all year round and slather the SPF on my body than risk caner and months of radiation/chemo and surgeries.
With that, I encourage you to check out this video. It sure hit me.
Love your body, with all you have because you only get one shot.

How Important it is to Know Yourself
A friend shared this on her Facebook just this morning. I had to share it here.
I'm a pasty girl who has never been able to tan and frankly, I gave up. I always say, pasty is the new tan. Now I'm glad I gave up the tanning beds long, long ago. I might have saved myself.
Check this out.

BIG TOPIC - Social Networking ... how does it affect you?!
I'm going to keep this post simple as it is more about making you aware of how the social network systems (Facebook, Nexopia, Myspace, Twitter) may be affecting your outlook on life.
For those on Facebook you may notice a lot of negative status updates, when you read that, how does it make you feel. Do you starting thinking or feeling angry, annoyed, frustrated? Do you laugh? Do you shake your head? Do you notice once you move on from that update, your mind is still thinking about it? In essence does your mood change after reading those types of status updates?
I realize this may seem trivial but it really is not. Pay attention to next time your on your social network site how you feel after you step away.
Now you ask, soooooo what can I do about it? You have options, let me tell you that, you have options! I've experienced this myself, so first my status was, "if you are going to be a Negative Nelly, I will be removing you from my friends list." Did it work? I can't say 100% it did but because I decided not to pay attention to those people, I either a) didn't notice because I chose not to read negative comments, b) I removed them from my friends list, c) the individual took note of whether they were being a "Negative Nelly" and changed their attitude.
In short, take time to analyze how this type of media is preventing you from being happy and make changes if it is affecting you!!!
Don't Worry! Be Happy!

Can spirituality increase happiness?!
The title of today's blog really says it all. I decided to write on this today after reviewing this website:
http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/articles/id/spiritualresearch/spiritualscience/spirituallevel_saints/index.php
The definition of spirituality can be defined as :
an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality;[1] an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of their being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.”[2] Spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer and contemplation, are intended to develop an individual's inner life; such practices are alleged to lead to an experience of connectedness with a larger reality, yielding a more comprehensive self; with other individuals or the human community; with nature or the cosmos; or with the divine realm.[3] For some, spirituality is experienced as a source of inspiration or orientation in life.[4] It can encompass belief in immaterial realities or experiences of the immanent or transcendent nature of the world.
Personally, I don't view spirituality necessarily as "God" or going to church every Sunday (depending on your beliefs, it may be another day of the week). For me it is more about being in tune with yourself and as noted above, your deepest values and meanings.
Spirituality for me alone makes me feel empowered and motivated, it is like a fire burning inside telling me to grab the bull by the horns and take life for a ride. This is the feeling all of us should embrace and go forward with. By achieving spirituality and moving forward we can only become more content and satisfied in life, right?! I would hope so!!!! Of course this doesn't mean go rob a bank because you suddenly feel empowered, what this means is if you have a dream, go for it!
So jump off your computer and learn how to become "in tune" with yourself, your spirituality and feel free. Stop being materialistic and learn about the "things" in life that really mean something more than having that awesome "coach bag", or the expensive make up. I'm a strong believer (speaking from experience here) that the more materialistic "items" we have, the less happy we become because our lives suddenly become cluttered with "things" and we suddenly feel like we must always be working to "keep up with the Jones' ". In an attempt to become less materialistic, I keep what I call a "Value Village bin" in my home. Nearly every day, I find one item, I toss in there. My home is now less cluttered with "things" and more cluttered with love, hope and faith and I'm smiling more. I'm finding less items = more freedom to breathe and think rather than being "attached" to the newest novelty in my home.
Be happy, be healthy and be you! Become inspired, empowered..... go ahead and Live, Laugh, Love and Dream!

Happiness & Exercise!
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude" - William James -
Attitude in today's world can make a huge difference in how you perceive everything around you! So how can we change our attitudes to create happiness in our lives.
There are many studies that prove exercise can in fact act as an anti-depressant.
A research study at Duke University found that a 30-minute brisk walk or jog 3 times a week worked as well as antidepressant drugs in beating depression.
We all make the excuses of not having enough time to get out for a walk or hit the gym. Would you make enough time if you discovered how much happier you could be, how much easier it would be to smile every day without even having to try, I bet you would. Instead of hitting the couch first when you get home, change your clothes and hit the sidewalk or gym, don't give yourself that extra 5 minutes... JUST DO IT!
I would be interested in to see how many of you make a dedication to work out three times over the next week and report back how your attitude changed, how did you feel?!
I absolutely love the refreshed feeling after a work out, I feel inspired and empowered! I am motivated. I feel great about my body, sure I have a few extra inches according to "society" but heck, it makes me who I am! Embrace yourself, love yourself for who you are and how you look, simply put, it is what makes YOU, YOU!
Be confident, be proud! Get out there and show it! You deserve to smile effortlessly! Dust of your gym shoes and give yourself, your body and your mind a workout! Find happiness!!!!!
Until tomorrow!!!! TOODLES!

How does this all work?!
Let's keep this first post short and simple until I figure out how this all works on here.
I've never blogged before and in fact have never planned to. I follow a couple of people who blog about different things such as photography or psychology, and even random crazy things I come across (which I might add are absolutely insane sometimes). Just last night I got to thinking, what if this helped, what if people read my blog, what if I had a blog that only posted inspiring and encouraging quotes or comments. I'm not sure I will get many followers, but I sure am going to try.
Too many of us are getting stuck in "life traps", we make sacrifices for others that we wouldn't make for ourselves, we have some how learned that the word "No" is not an option (at least not until we are absolutely exhausted and worn out). The lists go on. I hope to touch base on many of these topics and reference studies and books in hopes to help out those who feel like there is no one else because I know, sometimes, I feel like I've been tossed in a pitch dark room and left to be wandering aimlessly until I find the light.
Without light, it is hard to clearly see your goals, your dreams and your passions. So I'm hoping you will follow and let me be your dim light. You are the one that is going to make the light shine, I'm just going to start it for you........
